The Marathon Weapon Sight Patch v1.1.1
or "no more send and pray"

November 1995 by Stefan Joos and Stefan Berner

This patch creates "Software" sights for most weapons, intended to replace the ugly "Hardware" sights (stickers) on the average Marathon Player Monitor. In detail, the following sights were added:

For the .44 and the Fusion pistol: Aim Points (or Laser sights)
For the rifle: Combined gun and grenade sight
For the Alien Gun: A leveled sight
For the Missile Launcher: A classic sight

This will update the "Shapes" file without duplicating it, so take some care appling it (perhaps make a copy of your "Shapes" file before ... sorry ... no, we won't bother you ... just a kind tip ;-). Simply start the application and choose the shape file, which you want to update. Thats all.

This application was created with the Marathon Shape Shuttle V1.0b1. Sorry, but no Marathon 2 patch yet! As soon as we'll have a working shapes editor (if you now one let us know) and shapes shuttle for Marathon 2 (or the Marathon 2 Demo) we'll provide a Marathon 2 Weapon Sight Patch.

Version 1.1.1 Comments

Using another application to inject the sights into a shapes file the patch should now work with the new PCI-Macs too.

Version 1.1 Comments

Mainly triggered by the new version of the great Marathon Shapes Editor and the absence of the Palettes-Bug (Thanx Joe) this version 1.1 of the Marathon Weapon Sight Patch uses the the original weapon colors (remember ... in version 1.0 we had to replace some colors to make it work).

We've made some minor improvements on the sights, e.g. SPNKR won't cover your target anymore, so Extreme-High-Distance-Kills are now easier (extremely annoying for some of our opponents ... Sorry Matthias :-).

The sights will now work correctly in full sreen mode ... no guarantee but it seems so.

Version 1.0 Comments

To use the .44 and the Fusion more effectively, set their pheta values in the physics model to zero. Really great for some "Long Distance Kills" especially of Sitting Ducks.

The sights doesn't work correct in full screen mode ... they will work but ... SORRY!!!

'cause of a little bug in the Marathon Shapes Editor we had to modify some colors a little bit. In the next version number, this will be corrected.

... comments welcome (please take care of our sensitive mind) ... and ... Have fun,
